Awareness Reflections of the Built Heritage during the 17th Edition of the CGR Meetings

Guest of the January 2021 edition of the CGR Meetings, architect Szabolcs István Guttmann launched a discussion associated with how urban historical monuments can be preserved and enhanced. The comparative analysis of urban planning in Sibiu, perceived from the position of architect-in-chief of the City of Sibiu between 2001 and 2008, and urban planning in Cluj-Napoca highlighted the fact that a contemporary creative local spirit can be developed through the power of example. The role of universities in heritage awareness is more than recommended. In this sense, he brought into discussion the role of an event such as the Summer University of Transylvania, an interdisciplinary approach supported by Babeș-Bolyai University and the Order of the Romanian Architects, Transylvania Branch, dedicated to all specialists and students in order to raise awareness of the urban values of Cluj-Napoca and Transylvania, and other activities carried out together with students where they can themselves become contributors to the protection of historical monuments.
