The 6th International Conference on Regional Disparities and Regional Development: From Scientific Research to Policy Recommendations and the 10th Anniversary of the Centre for Regional Geography, 18-19 October 2014, Cluj-Napoca, Romania

The conference aimed to celebrate the Centre’s achievements during its 10 years of activity and, together with the conference participants, to set up a common platform on the phenomenon of regional development in the coming years by anticipating future challenges. The conference addressed the following two themes: Achievements on regional development (from past to present), addressing the theoretical and practical framework of regional development, rendered through the impact of regional development in the territory, the typologies of regional disparities and the optimal management of the current dysfunctions, and Challenges and scenarios for the future regional development, intended for a particular perspective on the future of regional development, taking into account the main challenges in the field, the policies implemented by the responsible decision makers in order to create a sustainable development or the identification of a specific regional identity. More than 110 participants from Hungary, Italy and Romania attended the conference.
