The 2nd International Conference on Regional Disparities: Typology, Impact, Management, 20-22 October 2006, Cluj-Napoca, Romania
Organiser: The Centre for Regional Geography of Babeş-Bolyai University
Following the positive feedback from participants in the first edition, the second edition of the international conference paid special attention to regional disparities, an extremely topical and fertile issue, with high practical value. Disparities are antipodal to territorial cohesion and their mitigation or elimination is a goal of any spatial planning activity and any economic and social development strategy. Highlighting their forms, typology, and especially their management are topics of great interest that the conference will consider every two years. As a result, the second edition came to bring together 80 participants from six countries (France, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Republic of Moldova, and Romania) and the 55 papers that were presented during the conference addressed various issues related to regional development and territorial disparities.
