Regionalization of Romania in Public Debate at the Romanian Cultural Institute

On Thursday, 20 June 2014, the Romanian Cultural Institute held a public debate on the “Regionalization of Romania”. The meeting was organized by the Romanian Geographical Society and the Romanian Cultural Institute. Acad. Dan Bălteanu, Director of the Institute of Geography of the Romanian Academy, Prof. Mihai Ielenicz, President of the Romanian Geographical Society and Prof. Pompei Cocean, Director of the Centre for Regional Geography of Babeş-Bolyai University took part in the debate. The territorial-administrative division of the country, or regionalization, aroused intense discussions at national level, the proposed regional administrative boundaries following different criteria.
