The 7th International Conference on Regional Development and Territorial Disparities, 15-16 October 2016, Cluj-Napoca, Romania

Organisers: The Centre for Regional Geography under Babeş-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, in collaboration with the Romanian Academy, Cluj Subsidiary, Geography Section and the South Muntenia Regional Development Agency

The main objective of this scientific event was to bring together leading scientists, researchers, scholars, PhD students and specialists in various fields to present their research results and discuss the new trends and the challenges of regional development.

The 2016 ICRD conference addressed the following themes:

1. Achievements on regional development (from past to present). The first theme addressed the theoretical and practical framework of regional development, rendered through the impact of regional development in the territory, the typologies of regional disparities and the optimal management of the current dysfunctions.

2. Challenges and scenarios for the future regional development. The second theme was intended for a particular perspective on the future of regional development, taking into account the main challenges in the field, the policies implemented by the responsible decision makers in order to create a sustainable development or the identification of a specific regional identity.

The themes were thoroughly debated by the more than 60 participants from Algeria, Canada, Hungary, Iran, Republic of Moldova, Romania, and Slovenia.
